Shalako Indian Store is locally owned
and operated by Frank and Marcia, who have been in the
Indian craft business for over 30 years. They began the
business by selling specialized items at trading posts
and swap meets in Texas. The business quickly grew, and
they decided to move to New Mexico and start a store in
a small suburb of Albuquerque called Rio Rancho.

After about a year, they moved to Santa
Fe and started what is now known as Shalako Indian Store
where they have been for the last 20 years. They have
been building mutually beneficial relationships with a
number of Native American artisans for many years; consequently,
they have created an amazing business filled with one-of-a-kind
items.
The store is divided into two distinct
areas: New Indian Crafts and Jewelry and Old Pawn Jewelry.
Many of the new pieces of jewelry are specifically created
for Shalako Indian Store. The Old Pawn items have been
collected over the years from various Indian trading posts
on the reservations. These pieces were originally designed
as personal adornments but were later traded for other
goods.
Come by and visit for an enjoyable shopping
experience.
